A Successful Premiere!

A Successful Premiere!

DOCUMENTARY PREMIERE & AWARD
The Pep Banned documentary premiered in front of a sold-out crowd at UVA’s Culbreth Theater on Sunday, October 26. Former band members were well represented at the showing and from the minute “Pep Banned” appeared on the screen, the enthusiastic audience laughed and cheered at all the right places. The patrons even sang to The Good Old Song towards the end of the film.

Prior to the screening, director Chris Farina was presented with the Governor Gerald L. Baliles Award for excellence in filmmaking. Chris was instrumental in the production of Pep Banned and received a standing ovation when he was recognized.

During the panel discussion after the film, Ron Culberson, Bill Reifenberger, Dave Black, and Mike McClellan talked about the production process and the experience of being in the band.

A good time was had by all!

NEXT STEPS
The next phase of the film development process will focus on a plan for future showings and distribution. A number of details need to be addressed before this can happen. The production team will begin working on that next week. We will use this newsletter and the Pep Banned website to keep everyone informed.

GRATITUDE FROM RON
On behalf of the directors, the film crew, the cast, and all of the attendees who experienced the premiere, I would like to thank all of the dedicated members of the University of Virginia Fighting Cavalier Indoor/Outdoor Precision(?) Marching Pep Band and Chowder Society Revue Unlimited! Your physical, financial, and emotional support over the past ten years made this movie possible. You came together to create a permanent record of an important part of UVA history. For that, I will be forever grateful. Scramble on!
—Ron Culberson
